Hi Thomas,

When I model my software, there's a Help File Path under the Customization tab.

At first, I was putting a link to a help manual on my website in the Help File Path field. But I'd like to include a .pdf manual that will open in the software, even if the end user isn't connected to the Internet.

How do I do that? I don't see anywhere to include a help file in the software itself (unless as usual I'm just not seeing it).

Thanks,
Debbie

I had this originally but people said they would rather point to a online manual. So now you point to an online manual. :)

Its a bummer to see the embedded pdf function got voted 'off the island'

I was also looking for a way to package a pdf within the
software, but will just include a pdf help file in the zip file download
with the software...

I guess arguments could be made either way for the online help file -

You wouldnt have to update the software when you make changes to the help file,
you could easily update help online and everyone has access to the current info...
And you could also offer a current downloadable pdf help file off the web page, as
an internet connection may not always be available...

just my 2 cents :)

Which brings me to the next topic...

I have finished a simple inventory software,
and am releasing any day now! Site is finished,
just have to get my opt in form up and get some traffic.

The site is already in the top 10 of google for my main target keyowrd,
I had put up a page with a little bit of text on it back in January, when I started
building the software. While I was building the program, the page
got indexed and ranked. (its a very low competiton keyword, and has a reasonable amount
of monthly searches, and they are very targeted searches, so I should see some action...

I had done my market research and keyword reseacrh back before
I even started working on the software, which is why I decicded to go with
the niche that I did, and got a domain name for that product, and put a simple page up,
and did a few boomarks to get it seen in the search engines...

Hi Howard,

I normally zip all my software files so the browsers don't show that ugly, scary window when downloading a exe file.

You could zip your software file and include the pdf within the zip file.

Awesome news on the rankings. Looks like you are ready to rock and roll. :)

Yep!

My plan initially, and still, is to flip the site once it
get some optins and a few sales.

Selling a site with a list of subscribers and being able to claim
sales/revenue boosts the value greatly, and im sure adding a
software product to the package will not only add tons of value
but should bring some nice bids too...

I found that I have a knack for selling sites:
after failing miserably in other areas of internet marketing,
I managed to sell off some of my website inventory last year,
and sold them quite easliy, that brought me some fast, badly needed
cash - so this will be an interesting experiment!

Great plan Howard.

I am planning on experimenting with the same concept. I think software will really distinguish our sites from the many others when it comes to flipping.

Let me know how it goes.
