Thomas, something came to mind. There were a few features that were suggested for the current offering (TSBPro) and I wondered if you would be able to look at just one that I believe many of us would find useful. Printing a record in the format of a report (or mail merge) would make it so that someone could just print a record (say, like a receipt) on demand without having to enter the record, save it, look up the record and mail merge it.

Is this something that will be addressed or is it already there and I am missing it?

Do you mean a mail merge from the detail window as well as the list view?

I think so, I would like to basically enter a record and then click a print button. Currently I can print a record but it prints it just like it looks in the record detail, I thought it would be good to be able to print using a mail merge or report. For example, lets say I wrote a point of sale software. A salesperson could enter the data for the sale but printing it would look somewhat ugly, whereas a report template or mail merge template would make it so we could drop that data into a nice looking invoice template.

Is there something I am missing? If I am, it won't be the first time! :D

Dominic, you may be able to get the Print function to turn out receipts that look pretty good. You can add header and footers to the templates. But, anything you enter into the memo fields still comes out blank. Thomas knows about that and is going to fix that bug.

Dominic, I like the idea of having a mail merge from the detail window. It would work the same as mail merging from the list views.

I will look at adding that to TSmaker and should be able to port that over to TSB.

It shouldn't be too hard to implement. Of course, I will probably hate myself for thinking that. ;)

The application of being able to do it though is huge. You could build interfaces and crm software for nearly any business such as vet's offices, boutique shops, craft shows etc.

If it matters, I don't hate you for thinking it!

haha, As long as you don't hate me in the morning.

I think it is a great idea. I will love it even more if it is as easy as I am thinking.

You can do a lot of nice looking templates with the mail merge.

Thomas,

Have we gotten anywhere on print merging from records yet? I just want to know if I missed something in an update or if it was still on the list.

Hey Dominic,

If it isn't in the release notes then it isn't done. :)

Thomas,

Thanks, I only saw the release notes for one release in the Releases forum so I wasn't sure.

I have a few prospective clients that are on the ropes for point of sale/point of service applications but doing a lookup and merging an invoice from there was 2 steps too many I think. I will let them know it is in the works and I will revisit with them in a few months.

What do you guys mean do a Mail Merge from the "list view" of the selected record I thought I could only do a
mail merg by adding the Mail Merge software object and then selecting mail merge check box on the other Objects
that I wanted to do a mail merge with.

Is there a way to do a mail merge directly from the list view of a record, while not working in the Mail Merge object
after running the application?

James,

Currently (I believe I am saying this correct) you can use the mail merge feature while looking at a list view, including search results.
