Thomas has nudged me a couple of times about looking beyond the IM niche. I must admit, I did feel uneasy about that because I've been in the IM niche for over 10 years. It's my comfort zone.
Regardless, I've taken a leap of faith 'cause i believe Thomas is on the right track and have always had a soft spot for software.
Where am i going with this?
Well, I've been looking around and I'm pleasantly surprised to see just how much business is being conducted in the b2b market. This site reflects my observations. Take a look at some of the customer videos: http://www.softwareag.com/corporate/res/video/default.asp
Maybe i'm being naive, I don't know. I'm totally out of my comfort zone, but my gut instinct tells me there's a whole host of opportunities out there for us TSB owners. I'm excited and just wanted to talk to someone about it.
End of rant :-)

B2B market is huge.
Check out Howard's post about how TSB is helping him get an advantage in a market he stumbled on.

Obviously, Howard doesn't tell you what his niche is but it is in the B2B.
More money, more licenses which is more money, they will pay for support which is more money. :)
And you can customize it to their specific needs while giving them the option to further customize it themselves since you got TSB Expert. ;)
I would say, once the web automation is in place, then you should sell to the IM group. I made a lot of money selling TSB style programs to the IM niche but they mostly want web automation. This is a killer combination with what we already have. Killer. I wonder if you can feel my excitement. :D
I still say you make more money outside IM with your marketing skills.

What kind of tools will one be able to create for the IM niche once the web automation is in place. Are there any tools out there that I can make a speculative comparison with?
Howards' post is indeed interesting, although I must admit, the penny still has'nt dropeed yet as far as audit trail tools go. I'll have to do some more research to get a better idea.
Thanks Thomas.

The audit trail basically keeps track of what user made changes to records, the changes that were made, timestamp, what the old data was befor it was changed, etc...
It creates accountability, its a 'like a 'digital paper trail' - secuirty and audit trails in digital record keeping are required for example, with government agencies, health care practices/hospitals, financial institutions, call centers, and more...
I am about to beta test a program that uses those features, as they are required features in any record keeping software to be allowed to be used in bsuinesses for for the niche I am targeting, other wise they are not allowed to use it for their record keeping, and their other option is to keep real books, paper records, which take up alot of space.... that info must be able to be supplied on demand if asked, and they must create reports on a regular basis, and have them and the datatbase backed up, etc.
And when they print them out, they have to print out a report with specific required fields/data, no more and no less...
Even businesses that arent regulated like that may still want those mutli user and audit features, to keep track of what their employees are doing, when reocrds are added, updated, changed, and who is responsible for those changes...

Submission, scrapers, backlinks and stuff like that.
For example, I will be able to setup a way for my customers to automatically log into their cpanel accounts and download their web stats. Then they can run a report or run a chart to see how there traffic has been increasing.
I could even do the same thing with my testing scripts. Have my software log into my testing script and download all the data into the software. I can then see that data in many ways with the charts and reports I create.
Not only will you be able to automate your web pages, but being able to run your business will set our apps apart from SEnuke and stuff like that.
Automatically create wordpress installations and uploading plug ins. Automatically uploading and setting up scripts with databases.
