Using Windows Vista x64 (Ran in Admin Mode)

builder itself works and loads fine with no errors, but when I went to run my first test software on this system I got these errors:

http://i44.tinypic.com/1zqeo40.jpg

Favicon created at 32x32 along with splash screen.

Combo Box Editors x 2, Text Editor, Currency Editor, Decimal Editor, Date and Memo Editors Used.

Any ideas what it is freaking out about?

What operating system etc. are you using Amanda?

Windows Vista x64 as well?

What about property editors, etc.

Maybe there's something we both did that can help connect the error..

I am running Windows XP. I also note that there are some components missing that differ from what are shown in the tutorial video eg. Telephne number in object editor. I also only have one module "Brandable" listed - no analysis, reports etc.

Very frustrated as this is my development week before I have to get into other work.

Hi Everyone, Happy New Year,

I'm getting a similar problem - but it happens when I run the software, not every time - usually when I've run it successfully and gone back to make some changes eg created new editors. Sometimes I get one long error message and then the final "Object Reference not set to an instance of an object", others I get a series of short messages and then the last one.

Once it's in a project, I can't seem to get rid of it. I have to create a new software project and then add the same objects.

I'm using Windows XP.

Thanks :)

Amanda, the charts and reports only come with the Pro version.

Dexx, does this happen every time you run the project?

Are you able to test run any projects?

That may be due to the database being locked and not unlocking when you close down the generated application.

No, you didn't do anything wrong. It just the locks are not getting taken off like they should.

Hi Thomas:
Have had problems similar to those stated in the thread. Access doesn't unlock and I haven't been able to delete data base file on a new TSBPro install, and wind up with a clean data base file.
Re-install of TSBPro doesn't do it and old data base hangs around. Based on Glenn or Alton's recommendation( don't remember whcih one) I renamed those old Access data base files.
Then I delete the folders and .txt files that I think are related to the problem build. I read the application framework file to see what object and project is involved. Next I run a scan of Windows registry, classes sections, etc. to wipe out problem locations, missed registry settings. Then I run a cold machine reboot.
Alton's naming system of Objects and Editors was a great help.
Your instructions on "static text" work okay.
Still have many bumpy experiences in "run software" and " build" effort, however.
I usually test out a small experimental Object and Software Project with one or two editors to see if I can be successful with the changes and with the experimental application. If it works, I then move on to more complicated objects and projects and install each successful project as an application on my own machine.
Hope this all makes sense.
Best regards,
John Burns

The problem is the database being locked. I changed it up but the problem is still persisting. I need to figure out a way to kill all locks on that file and it should work with no problems.

John, post the problems when they occur when you build and run software. I want to iron all these problems out so I can roll out with more products based on this technology.

I am not really having the problems that people are having. I had the locking a long time ago but never happened once I changed things up.

Thanks,

Thomas

Thomas, what is going to be the tie frame for fixing these issues so I can use the software as advertised?
Thanks

What issues Amanda? You haven't stated anything regarding problems. I would advise that you post a new thread with any problems you are having.

I am using the software as advertised so I am not sure why you are not.

You are missing functionality because it is only included in the Pro version. I am assuming you have the Express version which I already answered in this thread.

I'm sure I can speak for everyone when I say we truly do appreciate the amount of work you have ALREADY put into the software, not to mention the plans you've already mentioned you have for future updates!

I don't think any disrepect was meant in the previous post about a timeframe, everyone should (hopefully) understand that you are busy with multiple projects and business goals of your own, and that you have already met the expectations stated and more!

So once again thank you Thomas :-)

As for everyone else, please keep in mind that Thomas is working VERY HARD on not only this program of his, but other business ventures, and he is doing a damn impressive job on managing them all while answering our questions and comments.

This is a new program, and yes certain things are still being worked, but patience is a major key (especially in the software world), just as you wouldn't be demanding timeframes from Microsoft for their next patch update, you can't expect such from just one person such as Thomas who doesnt have hundreds of programmers going over the code.

The best we can ALL do, is try and build programs, and when we encounter an error -> Figure out how it came about.

Go back to the beginning and add one editor at a time, and run the program if need be, I will be trying this myself when I get off of the night shift this week and have time to try more software tests.

We all need to do our part to make this software better, so keep up the feedback and let's give Thomas the support he needs!

Here's to a great 2009! :-)

I agree with Dexx, and I think everybody else does also. I have created my first software and website to go along with it, so creating software is not a problem. The TSB system works wonderfully.

Any problems I came across, were presented in this forum and everyone of them have been solved. No one can expect an instant answer or a time frame, as every problem may be different. Every computer is different, so poses more variables for problems to arise. If you have problems, first try and recreate them, then read the forum before posting. You may just find your answer by doing some research.

Thanks Mike and I am glad you got a website and software ready.

There are some things I need to iron out and I will be working on it. No time frames for now. I am too overworked as it is which explains some of the short posts I have been making. :)

They will all get worked out. I have put a lot of time and resources into this and am committed to further development.

Now if I can keep the ciralis spam from hitting the forum then it will be happier days for me. :D

I realize this is an OLD post, however, for anyone new who may come along with the same problem, here is what I found when I received the SAME EXACT error...

While creating a new "property" (field) within a software object, I failed to select a propery editor (memo field, text field, etc...) and this was causing this error. Because you can not edit the field name or property type once it has been created, I had to delete the field and re-make it, this time making sure I selected a property editor type...

This fixed the problem... for me anyways (hope it helps others as well)

I keep getting this error when I try to test run the software; can't get near laying out the window. I've closed the TSB, Rebooted the computer.... deleted the Software Object and built a new one, simple, just one field, still getting the same error.

I've tried taking the object out of the app and adding an object from the Article program and it works. Then I take that one out and put the original object back in and it fails again.

Needing help here, tried to figure it out for most of a day. Pleeeze! (Desperation showing)

Hi Rich,
Did you try what was posted by jonathon in the previous post?

Other than that I'm not sure what it could be, if the other object worked and yours doesn't, you must be forgetting something.

Hi Rich,

What are the name of your objects and editors?

Steve, that did the trick! Thanks!

Yes, I had read the previous post, but when you made me read it again I went back in and tried a few times.

FINALLY, I realized that what looked like an image/icon field (and I didn't need an icon for that field) is actually the editor type property. And I did need that!

I was just choosing Editor, thinking that was text editor, and figuring I'd come back later to figure out why the other editor types weren't there. My bad!

Would be nice if the Software Object Editors grid listed the Type Property so I'd have seen it was missing. It says "Property Editor" and looks like an icon field. OOPS! Anyway, I won't make that mistake again, at least for long. And, in fact, as I think about it It would be handy to see the Editor Type Property in the grid. You can also see that I'm unable to think of it as Property Editor, or Editor Property, because I tend to see the Editor as having many properties (Name, Caption, Description). And Type, which is the kind of editor it is, not an icon. Whew, I hope I'm not boring you here, but maybe this thought string will help the next prerson with the problem.

Rich

PS to Thomas: Thanks, Thomas, Steve nailed it. I had already deleted and changed the object and property names to assure uniqueness. Which is where I think you're headed. You guys really do rock, and when I get the balance of the thing I'll be dangerous!
