Hi Thomas,
I'm at my wits end here. I keep getting errors when I try to run software. I'm enclosing 2 screenshots.
The first one where it references my temp folder, comes up about 30 times, referencing different lines, then the second one comes up. I tried a test with just a few editors and it worked, then I tried to recreate my software again and I get the error.
I tried looking in the temp folder to see if the file is there while the error is up, and its not.
Each time I try to run it, it references a different temp file, but its not there.
I guess I have about 20 to 25 editors in the software when I get the errors. 2 browsers, 3 hyperlinks.
I'd appreciate any suggestions, as I've tried this many times over. I have created other softwares with no problem but can't seem to get this one done.
Thanks,
Steve

Thomas:
have problem with executing in "run software" mode. Rather than using Forum to spell out difficulties, I sent you an e-mail containing TSBPro "tly" file that I exported to look at.
Luckily you won't be able to shoot me after receiving e-mail. I'm too far away. But I'll keep a look out for any suspicious air drones just in case you try to "x" me.
Thanks in advance.

Try closing the software down and restarting it. This looks like the locking problem I stated in other threads.

I am all stealth John. You will never see me coming. :)
I didn't receive the file so you may want to resend it if you already did.

I've tried restarting the software many times.
I rebooted my computer also.
I'm still getting these errors and I don't know why.
If I use a couple of editors it works, but more complex and I get errors.
Steve
Steve see if you get any errors if you use everything other than the web browser
I'm playing around with a test software object right now, and adding every editor in the program without issues so far.
I'm thinking the problem might have to do with the web browser and possibly the banner (not there yet)
I'll keep playing around with it right now and see what happens/what it takes for an error to come up

Well, I've had web browsers included before and it worked. Even with hyperlinks and banners.
I've even loaded all my other objects into a test software project and it worked fine. (8 different objects loaded at once)
Maybe it's because I reused a browser in my new software?
Anyway, I will try again.

Steve, send me your layout file so I can test here.

I want to try to knock all of these problems out for a release next week.

Thomas, Steve, Dexx:
here's the newest twist on "run software" error.
I had an experimental TSBPro application that I built (Thomas it was "experiment object 2.0" that I referenced in e-mail) and it worked fine
I started to add in new editors to object (i.e., "experiement object 2.0 and experiment project 2.0") and had no problems with "run software" command.
Got up to 10 editors (no static text, no hyperlinks, no browsers; all editors were either "text editor", "numeric", "date", "percentage" or "check box") and it still worked okay.
Added in 11th editor and "run software" command failed.
Strange part is I have another TSBPro application I built with 16 editors in one object and as many or more editors in second linked object. This second application runs fine.
Eh?

I don't think it is the number of editors. I got that error on the old forum. It was a lock on the database file.
You should be able to have lots of concurrent connections to the database which makes me wonder if this is a windows file locking problem. I have to play around with it more.
I got you email and will play around with it tonight or tomorrow and email you when I figure something out.
It does help with you and Steve sending me the layout files to debug this stuff and the great info you sent me.

I don't think its the number of editors either.
I've had 3 browsers going in 1 software object and it worked fine,
I also had 5 hyperlinks and a banner and that was fine also.
I hope you get it fixed soon.

John, I found the problem. It is a partially a coding problem. :)
The code is using the caption name instead of the property editor name which is wrong.
Now for your part in this. hehe
Never name anything with a decimal number. Don't start with a numeric either. The property editors with 4.0 will not work.
I really need to figure out a way to check this stuff so this won't happen. The problem is there are so many things to check. lol
I have fixed the coding problem and will get update out as soon as I fix some other things.
Thanks John,
Thomas

Steve, I am not sure what happened with yours but I got 3 different software projects when I imported your layout file.
When you run the software it should set the date to the client.tsb file in one of your folders that looked like 123232-2320-442-4242 in your TSB Pro folder. Delete that file and try to run it again.
If it doesn't run then send me your layout file again.
Edited: I just successfully ran all three projects that imported from your layout.
Thanks,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
Sorry its taken me so long to reply.
I did what you said and deleted those folders you mentioned.
And while I wasn't able to get my original project working,
I was able to finally redo it and get it to work.
I don't know why the originals won't work.
Probably too many deleted editors and whatnot.
Bottom line is its working now with the new software object I created.
Thanks,
Steve:)

Thanks Steve,
I think I will put a "Clear Button" to delete the software project folder rather than going manually. I already corrected the delete problems. Hopefully that will clear up some of these problems.
Thanks,
Thoams

I'm having the same sort of problem with the simplest of software builds -
1 editor and 1 clickable graphic.
Pretty much getting a working piece of software out of TSB is
a matter of many hours of trial and blind luck for me. I've uninstalled,
reinstalled, rebuilt all objects many times, you name it. For me,
it's a mess.

If it is a mess than you are doing a lot of different things than just adding one editor and 1 clickable graphic.
I have said it many times on this and the last forum, if you uninstall and don't delete the files in your TSB folder within the program files than nothing will change.
I have just created a few programs with no problems myself. It seems to be working for me. I would recommend posting any problems in a seperate thread so we can take a look at your process. It could be a naming problem that is causing the problem. In most cases it is a naming problem in either the Software Object or the Property Editor.
