In the "Express Version" that I have there is a field called "Type" within the software object section. This is a drop down list that has 4 options "custom, schedule, person and organisation". What does this mean? as it is not included int he help pdf attached to the program. The help file is "tiger Software Builder Professional.

Comment No. 2 is that I am still having issues with trying to get the program to work - I have sent Thomas screen dumps of the errors that I am getting. From reading the other threads - they appear to be similar to what others are getting. I am trying to perservre with the program but am having moments of fading in and out. In your upgrade Thomas, how about a more comprehensive help file relating to the functions of the Express version attached to the Express version?

Cheers

Amanda, let's try this one more time. I normally can tell when I am not able to help someone because they will not answer my questions. Unfortunately, this isn't going well for you and I.

If you want help than at least answer my question from the email. I do not support via email, only through these forums.

I will update everything when I can, including the documentation.

If you want help be more descriptive about what you are doing. Pretty simple really.

If this isn't good enough than I apologize and recommend you hiring a software developer to create the software you are working on.

P.S. It is 10:50 pm here on a Saturday. I shouldn't even be working. ;)

I get what you are saying Thomas but no need for the mad face. I am in the process of writing out what I am doing step-by-step to post on the forum. I tried to upload the screen dumps that I had, but the file was too big for the forum.

Now back on the orginal question in this thread - "In the "Express Version" that I have there is a field called "Type" within the software object section. I am trying to trial different things to see if this is where the problems may be starting so it helps for me to know what certain things mean.

I like my icons. :eek::D

Anyway, those are different types of software objects. They speed up development with preassigned property editors. In all honesty they weren't suppose to be in the Express version. Must have been an oversight on my part but since they are in there they will stay.

The scheduler allows you to create a schedule like interface with days, weeks, months and so on.

Organization and Person has property fields that you would normally find for that type of applications like phone number, address, picture, first name and so on...

I still need to know what you called your software object and property editor.

Thanks,

Thomas

The software objects are called Notes, Corrective Action, CAR Close Out and Attachments. I have also listed the type of property editor that I used.

Notes (Memo)
Corrective Action (Text, Date)
CAR Close Out (Text, Date, Combo Box)
Attachments (File Editor)

I hope this helps. It is time for me to have a Corona since it is Sunday afternoon here in sunny hot Australia. I still have to work out how to attach a smaller file - but maybe I just copy into the message??.

See that is why you got the mad face. Cold and nighttime here.

I lived in Canberra for close to 4 years and want to move back. Not Canberra but maybe Brisbane this time.

The naming looks alright besides the Notes that I can think of.

Open up the software object, click the misc tab at the top and click export layout file. Email me that file.

Thanks Amanda and enjoy your beer. I am surprised you are not drinking vb or crown. hehe

VB tastes like #@%& and Crown is just a more expensive version of VB. I would also get the mad face if I had to live anywhere else rather than Newcastle, NSW.

Back to the job, the only place it has export is within the "Editors Tab" where it has the option to export to Excel, HTMl, Text, Xml. Under Miscellaneous tab at the top of the screen it only has a help button.

You have to open the software project detail. Double click the software project and then click the misc tab.

I apologize by mistyping previously. It is the software project that needs to be opened, not the software object.

Thanks,

I had a look at that but the only options in the miscellaneous tab are:

(1) Layout - Run Software
(2) Setup - Run Software and Create Setup
(3) Help

The only other place that I can see "export" is Software Objects tab where it has the option to export to Excel, HTMl, Text, Xml.

I will have to install the software on a clean machine and see why it isn't there. I am working too much and having a hard time keeping versions straight now.

How many software projects do you have going?

If only one than look into your program files under the tsb folder and there should be a folder that looks like 79122-343430-4343-q24343 but with different numbers. Send me the client.tsb file in there.

I have 3 projects at the moment. Is there a way that I can see what version that I am running?

If you click the run software it should change the date to current date within the folder.

Hi Thomas

Because I have more than 1 project running do you want me to still send you the client.tsb file? I will be in and out of the office today - due to be 32 degrees C today so the beach is calling me already!

Forgot to ask - can you send me / post a link for more info on the Professional version.

Thanks

You are a evil woman Amanda. Talking about the beach when I am stuck in snow. Very evil. :D

Yes, send me the client.tsb so I can figure out what the problem is. It could be as simple as a naming problem.

I don't have anything up about the Pro version yet. I am still working on it as well as a comparison chart.

See, I listen. ;)

I will have a play around with the names of the files and see how I go. I read the hint in one of the threads. I will be back on line end of next week as I am off to Melbourne for the Australian Open tennis.'

Heres Cheers

Hi Thomas

I re-tried a few things with the naming convenstions and it seemed to work for me this time. I will go back and try some other things and let you know. If the updated version is nearly ready, should I wait until that is released?

Thanks
Amanda

Hi Amanda,

The update resolved some internal problems. It shouldn't stop you from continuing development right now. the naming conventions will always be there.
