I was taking a look on warriorforum and noticed Altons link to some software products that he created and was reselling.

I loved some of his products he created with tsb pro. I felt like a proud father. :D

Great job Alton. Keep it up.

Congratulations to both of you :D

And thanks for the new documentation, Thomas, it has cleared up a few questions for me.

I've almost finished my second free/viral software, which is exciting.

Have a couple of questions and so will go and post them.

Hey Thomas,

I can tell by his posts that Alton is on top of his game. How can find his software products? Do you have a link? I can't find a way to do a search in the forum.

You should be proud Thomas.

Now, the ones that requires Windows, he created with TSB pro, right? He must have used another program for the ones that Require: PHP, MySQL.

Alton, congratulations! You are actually doing what most are dreaming about.

Yall have found me out! My site is SoftwareScripts.net, and I use it to showcase the products I make with TSB. The other products are Big Mikes from the Warrior forum. I have 5 TSB products so far, four to sell and the fifth is free for joining one of my lists.

Sales are slow so far. I sold my first TSB product yesterday. That is the Firearm and Knife collector's software. I may have it just a little too pricey. The product is good, but there is so much competition to deal with. That is why I made my product to cover both guns and knives. All the others I found just dealt with one or the other.

I used RoboSoft to submit my products to about 300 software directories. That went great. Then, I submitted the products to Upload.com. They listed the first within a couple of weeks and people are downloading it. The others? They only listed them about 2 days ago, so no results yet. They seem to have been a little overloaded lately.

One thing I decided is to only give people about 5 free uses of the software. I started out with 14 free uses and decided that is too much. That tends to drag out the time too much and people could lose interest. But, I still think free uses are the way to go.

I have been trying several types of videos to sell products. Right now, I prefer using Jing to capture the screenshots and PhotoStory to produce the videos. You can load it with screenshots, put in your own narration on a per image basis, and put a soft music background to help keep the listener's attention while you stumble along.

This is a fantastic opportunity we have with this software builder. I have a few other products in the making. I plan to complete them soon after the next version of TSB comes out. (hint)

Alton you are awesome!

I may be one of your customers. I'm heading out to a speaking engagement (300 sales people and alcohol will be served before my keynote. I have been training myself to dodge empty bottles. LOL! When I come back tonight, I will take my time to really look at your site.

Hey, I remember when I worked at the hotel, they used to have a big knife show. You might want to check that out. They do spend money.

Congrats, Alton! The Manage My Kennel Pro looks especially impressive! You are getting me inspired! LOL

I am working my way thru the new Express manual and things are starting to gel for me. (Thanks for such awesome documentation, Thomas!)

Alton - Is the Sales Page Wizard one that you created with TSB?

Also, have you been hiring someone to design the splash page, icon, and other graphics? If so, how is that going?

Thanks Tink, but I am a "pore" man and have not hired anyone. We raise Yorkies as breeders, so dog related software is one of my interests. Some kennel software is quite expensive and there are other opportunities in the dog world for other software.

Although I have a few products released, I would like to refine some things such as the sales page, screenshots of the products, videos, etc. They can always be improved upon, but by the same token, they will never be perfect. So, I think it is good in a way to go ahead and try to get that first product released and get a feel for the whole procedure.

If you have a product in mind to make, you can examine the competition's product for ideas of how to make your hopefully better. One of the greatest advantages we have is that our software is so easy for the end user to install. Not all of the products available are easy to install. And, many people are fearful of not being able to install a product after they pay for it. You can assume that most people do not have the computer skills to complete an installation that involves ftp, renaming files, transferring files, setting permissions, setting up databases, or the scariest one of them all...cron jobs. So, we should always use ease of installation as a top selling point.

It amazes me that people want computers that do so many things, but most people outside the Internet marketing world just know how to read email, surf the Internet, play games, or watch a movie. These folks are looking for ease of installation in any product they buy. And, we are fortunate that our software is simple to install because if it weren't, it can be a nightmare providing support to people who have few computer skills

Alton.

Alton.

We have been through a lot of installation problems in the past haven't we Alton. Luckily we built on what we learned to fix those installation problems. :)

This should install pretty easily for people now.

People love simple applications. They hate being overwhelmed with things to learn. Power is great but it has to be simple enough for people to use the software.

I have been trying to get this through some thick skulls. hehe

Some people like Word but I have sold a lot of word processing software because it was cheaper and easier to use.

Yes, we have. And, that particular program is still making me money. I made a sale just minutes ago on it. Clearing up the installation problem made the difference. It went from a 25 % refund rate because of installation difficulties to a near zero refund rate.

People like simple installations for sure.

Alright Waller! Get those software products out there. Just like Alton said, you don't need it absolutely perfect.

Haha, when I do something perfectly it will be a miracle:D

Having got almost everything working well yesterday, I had to make a small change and it all went completely bananas. I was getting two copies of an object attached to the software and it still happened when I unlinked the object and even when I deleted it! Then the software started crashing and then my layouts fell apart and kept reverting to their original state.

The good news is that it is now all ok and I'm very relieved to see from the forum that I'm not the only one having these problems. I was beginning to think there was no hope for me:eek:

When I was a student ,back in the recession of the 80s, the advice was, if you are good at languages, learn a computer language. I'm glad I didn't pay any attention - I could never do what you are doing, Thomas

I really admire your ability to create something so complex and then fix all the bugs. Can't wait to really master this and start making money :p

Thanks, Thomas

Thanks Waller. I fixed the layout problems. You will always have some problems if you are adding and removing property editors. The layouts will get messed up and will need to be redone. But the layout adjustments are working a lot better.

Great! The really cool thing with TigerPro is, that even when things go horribly wrong and I have to start all over again, it still only takes about another day to finish the software. When I've written ebooks, they take for ever - research, editing, proof-reading, revision etc - and then nobody wants to buy the damn things  So this is miles better :)

Thanks, Thomas
