View Full Version : Anyone used Download.com/Upload.com for Promotions?

Is the paid version (i.e. approval within 2 days instead of 2 months) worth the $60 or whatever cost?


I've been promoting to the dozens and dozens of free software directories but I'm thinking the "bread and butter" of traffic will be from Download.com, however I've already been waiting a month with no review approval of my software yet!

What about Tucows.com? They have a paid feature to speed up approval too...

right now I'm at 5853 of 6743 in line to be approved after a month on that site!


It just sucks that you can't just pay for a membership to have all software approvals sped up, but no, each individual submission has to have a "pay to play" approval charge

Dexx, I submitted my first software to Upload.com on Dec. 10 and it was listed about a week later. Then, I submitted four more in the two weeks before Christmas. After no attention for about one month, I sent an email to them asking for them to consider them. No answer until early February. They answered the email and listed the other four products that same day. I did not pay any fees for any of the products to be listed. I would like to know if others pay the fees or just use the free listing.

Hrmm I see, how do you find the Download numbers your software gets from Download.com?

Pretty significant? Do they convert well into sales?

When you login to Upload.com, you will see this at the top of the page...

And, just select the product. It will give you all the stats. But, it has been a week slow lately.

If you have DLGuard, it has reports that are up to date. If shows all the views, downloads and sales.

heh sorry Alton, I meant how did you find YOUR download numbers for YOUR products after you uploaded them :)

Did you find a big boost in downloads from Download.com

I just uploaded TSB Express to upload.com and they stated this week.

I have others that took a week or two. Tucows will take a LONG time unless you pay.

Only if you are doing well with the other directories. Test with the other directories and if you are successful then pay the tucows.
