Hi Thomas,

I've finally gotten to the point where I want to something to sell. I've tried to set it up with a 5 time limit before purchase, but the software doesn't enforce that- just keeps launching. Also, I added some HTML in the trial tab before hitting "create setup" but I don't see where it shows up in the application. The code I added was for a Paypal button. Would that be right?

I also attached a license agreement and I don't see where that shows up. I'm hoping it's something they are forced to accept before working in the app, as is the case with most commercial software (for liability issues). Please confirm.

Generally I guess, don't know what to do when the app is built.

Thanks.

Hi Steve,

It will launch but shouldn't get past the activate screen. You can add anything you like to the html field. The images won't show up.

Actually this was something I was going to run by everyone. I can make it work like a browser type field for the activation.

The licensing file won't work until I get the update out. :)

For now, you can include a license file with the setup or show it online and have them click the checkbox before they purchase.

Hi Thomas,

What I'm finding is that if I compile a program that has a single object, the trial screen launches just fine, but the program I built has four objects and won't launch the trial stuff. I've re-built the project several times but still can't get it to go. Not an issue you've ever heard of?

Update...

I have the trial screen coming up and it successfully kills the app after 5 uses--awesome. Here's the thing though, I found that if I remove the app and run the installer again, it starts me over w/ 5 new uses of the software. I guess we we're not running anything that prevents that? Think most people just wouldn't think to do that?

It shouldn't be a problem Steve. They can keep installing it but all information will be lost as well. That is until I get the update stuff working. So you are good to go. :)

OK, thanks Thomas. Can you help me thru this license issue, though? I have built a license agreement and associated it with the software, but I don't see that it comes up anywhere. This issue is particularly important to me as some of the apps I'm creating are financial, so I'm hoping to use one of those standard checkboxes (that are pretty standard for commercial software) to indicate acceptance of the agreement. Is that what the package currently offers or future plans for that?

In the meantime, I have put a license agreement out on a web page and said something like "initiating a trial or purchase of the software indicates acceptance of the licenses agreement". Think that'll work?

Anyone else doing anything different?

That is what I did when I used a online installation setup. There was no way to add a license file with that type of installation so I had a blurb on there that by downloading the software they agree to the license with a link to the license.
