Thomas,
Ok, just wondering couple of things since I was doing a build.
I did a build---then customized during the run stage to get things where I wanted. I then was trying to add a browser and static text. They were added fine.
The problem I had was that it totally messed up the customizing I had just done. It slid everything to one side and made room for browser and static text.
Just wanting to know if I did anything wrong and just need to customize some more. If so, next time I will surely add these before customizing---LOL
Would love to see you add browser and static text in one of your next videos. No rush, but would like to see that process.
I still haven't quiet got down the customizing down to an art yet. I gotta watch more videos--LOL Example-getting the photo section to a good size and on the section and side of page etc. I am using extra spaces to accomplish this now---maybe that is right--LOL

Hi Glenn,
Did you move stuff around after you added the browser and static text.
I just got a new headset and will do some more videos tonight, one will be customizing layouts.

well tried to move around a bit--but could figure out how to get browser and text box correct size. I just gotta test a little more. The browser seemed to want to take up most of the page----but maybe I wasn't doing it properly. Just didn't understand what use a browser would be using a small window.
Will work on it some more and watch other videos.
Thanks,
Glenn

Yeah, it will depend on the webpage you want to show. You can make it really big if you design your layout in a way to allow it to take most of the window space. I will show what I mean in a video.
Basically create a tabbed interface, have your browser take up all the room of the first tab space and put all your editors on a different tab interface.
Hopefully that made sense. lol

Excellent Thomas,
I get it now. That would do the trick. Dang, forgot about the tabs too!
Thanks again,

Tabs are your friend Glenn.
When you are doing a layout, try to group common items together. If the window has a lot of editors, then break them up with tabs. Keep it more simple so people don't get overwhelmed when the first see the window. Us the tabs and the groups to make it easier for people.

Well, I have to admit that I still don't understand the process of adding browsers, and other static text. Could someone explain that in detail. I went over the movies and still don't understand. Is there a way to cause something such as a particular website show in the main window everytime the product software opens?
Thanks,
Alton

I will post a few videos tonight on the browser, static text, banners and hyperlinks.
Add a new browser to your Software Object. Enter in the address to the web page you want to show.
Run the software like you normally do for customization.
Right click the software object window and click customize. Drag the item with browser over onto your window.
You now have a website being displayed on your window, unless you are not on the internet. If you use a redirect then you can change the website being displayed by changing the redirect on your webhost.
Does that make sense Alton. Hopefully I am doing a decent job describing the process.
Thomas
P.S. I made a post in Software Marketing about using this with cpa offers or adsense.

Aha, I think I see the misunderstanding. I have been trying to create a new software object as a browser. Instead of adding browsers to already built software objects. I still would like it if I could make my website or a welcome message appear in the main window when the product opens. Is that possible?
The good news, I am understanding how to use tabbed groups and how to customize the pages. I am doing well on those lessons.

Sweet. The groups and tabs will really make your software look nice and easy. Too many things on the window will scare people.
Regarding the browsers on the main window, unfortunately no. I wanted it myself but it was too much work. They are only added to the detail windows.
The static text, banners and hyperlinks will work the same as the browsers.

Thomas, I am wanting to do something simular to this, but i need the url of the browser to change with each record. Is there a way to set the url of the browser to a Text Calculation? I want to do something like this website url = "http://ZZZZZ." + Editor Value + ".xxxx.xxxxx.net"
Can I define a Text Calculation, and then refer to that in the browser setup? I am stumped...
Thanks,

No, the browser wasn't set up for that. It was set up to market other websites within the software.
You can use the website editor and enter the site into that. You still won't be able to do a calculation based on that but it will allow you to add different web addresses. The user can click on the url and open a browser on their computer with the url.

So, i would add a website editor? Populate it with a url from the csv file that i import? Does that sound right?

Exactly what I was thinking. I am going to look over your email tonight and see if I can give you any pointers. I didn't see your software file.
