View Full Version : Software Creation Limits?

Hey Thomas,
I am interested in knowing what this software creator can't do.
For instance, is it possible to create software like a video submitter or
an article submitter program?
Is it possible to incorporate an API from say Google, Facebook or
places like that in order to create software apps?
Thanks!

I know Thomas is very busy. I have been playing with the TSB since the
first version came out.
Thomas is an incredibly talented developer but I think at present you will
find the TSB will not do the things you want.
This is according to my understanding. I'm still scratching my head figuring it
out so I hope to help myself too by writing out my thoughts.
A) It is basically a records management software. Ie:
- word processor files
- people management files
- custom record files where you create the fields you want
B) It also does math and some spreadsheet-like functions. So you can
make record-keeping software. One person here made a headache-tracking
software that seems to make graphs - so I guess you can integrate some
of the custom calculation fields with the graphs part.
C) You can have clickable URLs, clickable URL images, and "browsers" - but I
am not sure what the exact differences are and I have had trouble putting
more than one type in a software object to see what they do differently.
D) you can put "static text" windows in your objects. I put a static text window
into a word processing object with classic advertising headlines. If you put
more than one "static text" in an object it blinks back and forth between the
two static texts so it's like a "sound bite" sort of thing - the user cannot control
the switching and it goes kind of fast.
E) It has some really nice graphs creation software and reports software you
can add to your business software projects. These are impressive and powerful
but I haven't figured out how to work them really. Manuals needed if you
want people to use them.
I get errors when I try to mix-and-match some things together in software
objects... so I am just kind of figuring out what works and what doesn't
with my operating system.
It does not integrate with the web mcuh. It just opens URLS and browser windows. I
was wondering if you can package a local web folder... I don't know what the
technical terms are... so users who are not connected to the web can "browse"
a site that is actually on their computers... not online... like a membership site
with resources.
This is just my current understanding. I have a lot to learn and I know Thomas
has a great many tricks up his sleeve which will make TSB more versatile in the
future.

Loren is correct, it doesn't interface with web applications.
Don't think of this product just as software to sell. Also realize this is a marketing tool. It also sets yourself up to bring a customer into your sales funnel either by getting them to sign up for your list or sell directly through the software.
Most people in most niches will need some type of software to keep track of information. No only that, but be able to access that information quickly and in ways to be able to make decisions. That is why information is so powerful.
Most of the multi mullion dollar software systems I worked on as a consultant didn't interface with google or facebook. ;)
I may open this up in the future but will need a lot of time to figure it out.

.
I am going to try to create a manual for everything that you can edit in order to create your own help files. I would like to create this as a addon to make life easier. Probably next year.
A help document generator of sorts.

Loren: I did create graphs for my headache tracker software and created a help manual to show how to do the same with one's own data. The help manual can be found at www.headacheanalyzer.com/headachetracker.html . There is a link to the help manual on that page. Don't know whether this may aid you in creating graphs with your data but you may want to look the doc up. It won't cover in depth the material Thomas will likely create later on, but for now it may be the start you need.
Best regards,
John Burns:)

Once again, you've done a great job on your headache software fortesque. I downloaded it and your manual and I can now say I have an idea on how to create the graphs. :-) (Thomas won't give me smilies so I gotta make them by hand :-)
One thing I did notice is after saving and then reopening the graph you need to click the Bind Analysis Data button again to reload the data.

I don't know why you can't smile Mike. I may have to ask your wife. :D
Yes, you do need to click the bind. I may try to automate that better in a future release.
