Hi Thomas,

please can you tell me if it is possible to create a application and if you do changes to the application later that
it auto updates the content or anything else you added on customer's PC?

Thanks.

Dirk

Hi Dirk,

Auto update is not possible. I like to set up a membership site that people can log into to download the latest version. This is a great way just because you keep people coming back to see your advertisements for other products. :)

I normally send out an email to everyone telling them there is an update.

Thomas, if I release a software product and a few weeks later (or months or whatever), I release an updated version, will the customer/user be able to simply download the new file, run the install and update his/her original copy or will they have to install a separate instance of the software thereby causing them to have to re-enter any info as well? How exactly do software updates work (on our end -- the software we create for our customers)?

I am working on update logic. Once done, all you will have to do is send out a new installation file and it will be taken care of.

Hi Thomas,

Is the auto-updating feature still a possibility at some point?

Thanks!

Update is built into the software. You create a new version, put it on your site, your customers download it and install it, and it updates their software to the version they downloaded.

I just tried that and see what you mean.

Thanks Mike!

I just noticed this feature in the installation area and was wondering how to use it properly:

Software Model-->Installation-->Update URL

If I put in a URL there:

Will it show up somewhere within the software?
What sort of webpage should the URL point to, a simple html page with a link to download the latest version?

Update url is for installation information only. It doesn't do anything.
