Can anyone recommend a Microphone Headset.

The one I just purchased has a humming sound in the back. I just discovered there are alot of problems with this model. Lucky me.

I need one to get these videos done. I just shot 3 videos and will need to redo them now. :mad:

I guess it is according to what type you want. I have a headset with microphone. I listen to music a lot also when online so I wanted the regular type with both earmuff things on it. It is logitech. I got it a local wal-mart a while back for about $40.
It has been my best headset so far and I love it. I do talk via skype and online games, etc. and it works great for me. However, I have not done any type recordings or videos using it yet, so I would not be able to comment on that.
The headset looks and feels like the old stereo headsets. Logitech makes a couple cheaper models at about $20 but do not compare even close to this set.
I don't know about the one earmuff type headsets because I would not use one. I don't like any background noise when I am using.
I use mine everyday and would consider spending more money on fancier headsets if I need another later. But it would have to include some good sound features, etc.
Hope that helps a little,
Glenn

edit: ok here is link to set that looks like mine or real close and about same price http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8198023

now if i were to get another set I would highly consider paying more just because this set is wireless http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10073758

the cord does get in the way and I like being able to get up and move around--so this gets my vote for next headset.

Also, either check local wal-mart for supply in stock or order online to be sent to local store or something to save wasted trip. Sometimes they have em in the store, sometimes not.
One last thing---Wal-mart is usually excellent for returns--so if you don't like the set--just take it back and say it would not work for the way you use it---money back.

hehe, I bought the same one but pro usb version. I saw on the logitech forum that a lot of people where having a humming noise in the background when using the microphone. Of course this was after I purchased it and recorded three videos for TSB. lol

I always had pretty good luck with Logitech. I guess this model has a lot of problems.

I will be trying to get a new one today. The stores have little to pick from which is strange.

Thanks Glenn,

Thomas

I use the Logitech USB one also and I love it. I use it on skype, videos, pretending to be talking to avoid the wife, etc. (If my smilies worked, I'd put one here:-)

Hey Thomas,

When I was looking for a replacement headset this set by Plantronics came highly recommended...
http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-DSP-500-Headset-semi-open/dp/B000ENZYC2

it is currently out of production, but the GameComPro 1 by Plantronics apparently is the same headset with a different paint job.

The GameCom Pro 1 can be found through the amazon directly for $80;
Beach Audio about $70 shipped (an amazon reseller)
http://www.amazon.com/GameComPro1-PC-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00067WKMI

or

Office Depot - $54 ($43.95 + $9.95 shipping) before tax
http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=775388

==============================================

Was also looking at the Plantronics DSP-400 which is highly reviewed...

http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-DSP-400-Digitally-Enhanced-Foldable-Software/dp/B00005A9AU (http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-DSP-400-Digitally-Enhanced-Foldable-Software/dp/B00005A9AU)

Not to be confused with the DSP400 which may not actually be what ships as it seems that Plantronics has replaced this model with another as some of the reviewers indicate that it is being replaced with .Audio DSP 400 headset and no longer comes with PerSono software.
http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-DSP400-Foldable-Multimedia-Headset/dp/B000VEMNRS

Also noticed the Audio 470 USB for about $32...
http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-Foldable-USB-Optimized-470/dp/B000VVXO7E

==============================================

There are plenty of reviews to read at amazon for each of the headsets.

I'm leaning towards the GameCom Pro 1.

Your smileys do work! I saw it in this post :

I also posted later in that thread what I thought was wrong but saw you fixed it. If it is not one of the problems listed, then let me ask you, are you using "go advanced" button when you reply---that is where the smileys are at.

Thanks for the help guys. I almost went with a Plantronics 350 but it didn't have the usb connection.

I ended up getting a Microsoft one. I really didn't want to but now I am really glad. The earphones fit perfectly over my large elf like ears. It drowns out a lot of noise.

I just did a recording and the sound was great. I didn't hear anything in the background. I just scared myself hearing my voice. :D

I started a video going over the property editors and now camtasia closed unexpectantly. lol I just can't win.

Anyway, I am doing a video showing me customizing a window, one of the property editors (just showing how the look and act which many of you may already know) and one of using the grids.

I will do some more about objects and how the relate to the software project. Hopefully I will get these done tonight.

Thanks for the help,

Thomas
