I'm in the application process with these two sites (there's also regsoft.com and esellerate.net but I'll apply to those after I get these two set up and running)

Just curious if anyone else has used software ecommerce sites to promote their products instead of relying on just the usual Clickbank / PayDotCom sites?

Only thing I'm trying to figure out with these is how I can offer a 5 use trial software with purchases that allow me to put the purchasers into a DL Guard membership group to allow access to download updates in the future.

Anyone have suggestions that has done it before?

Sorry Dexx, I am not sure what you are trying to do? 5 day trial with what purchase?

Don't forget I am very slow. :)

Heh I was pretty tired when I wrote that so it doesn't even make much sense to me!

Basically what I'm wondering (thinking to myself) is how I would go about offering my software for purchase through sites such as RegNow etc.

But subscribing those that purchase into my DL Guard membership page for the program so that they can download updates (while being monitored / limited access)

That way I'm not sending out the direct download link to people via email, which should help reduce people sharing the link at least.

I'm thinking what I might do is have the first time the software is installed and opened, for it to force/prompt the user to register their email etc. to receive future updates.

They will then receive a registration key in their confirmed email.

I just hope that doesn't annoy people, but really it shouldn't if they want future upgrades.

What do you think T?

Is there a better way to accomplish what I'm thinking? (I don't want to put a banner ad up to have them register since it would constantly be in their face long after they do register)

Regnow is a merchant? I believe they have affiliate tracking and is mainly software but unsure of how they work.

I don't think you will get it incorporated with DL. I would have them register, which is common, and then send the serial along with any update notifications. You can use your autoresponder for that.

You can also create a browser in your software that will display the latest version with any news (or other products they can buy :) ) within the software itself.

Definitely make them register.
