View Full Version : Separate database

Thomas I'm not sure if this was asked for, and I know you are working on multi user, but does this include a separate database that can be stored on a server, or is it multi user on the same computer?
I would like to see a database separate from the program, or that is moveable to a server and shareable. That way we could create software and sell seats or licenses. One user or ten users or 1000 users. All able to share the same database and same data from different workstations.
Shouldn't be too much to ask for :D

Hi Mike,
The database is separate already. I just need to set up the logic to allow you to point to that database which will be in the multi user.

You will love the new version. Now you can edit the order of the navigation, I am getting close to getting the language changeable and you can even change the order of the buttons on the windows. :D

ThomasHey T, are you sure you charged us all enough for this? MS doesn't even offer this type of FANTASTIC support... Keep up the KICKASS work, ( and my previous offer still stands if you ever get tired of this lil' old boring software thingee you have going ;) )

Hi Neal,
If you haven't already noticed, some of my users are always trying to butter me up for new updates. They even know I haven't seen my wife in 10 years (I have only been married for 1 year but don't tell them that). All I hear is more, more and more please. :D

Yes, but since T is lactose intolerant, that don't count, unless of course, he's diabetic
too, then you may be saved :) (god this post has gotten sooo off topic, hehehe)

It's surprising that someone isn't putting ground up NoDoze into Thomas' coffee...
(somebody hide this thread from Thomas)
My oh my I haven't been by here in a long time.
and it seems that I've been missing a bunch of fun...
...and then there's that whole self inflicted sleep deprivation that Thomas has going on.
Hi Everybody (shouldn't that be at the top of this post) <--maybe Thomas isn't the only guy needing some sleep.
Best,

Was multi user added to the v12 update? If so, :D.
I'm working on a service order app. It's mostly done except for the reports (haven't quite figured the reports module out yet). MU would make this exactly what we need at my day J.O.B.

I don't think Thomas has it completed yet. There is security, but it would be the same for everybody :)

That's what it looks like. It seems to me that it would almost have to be a module that you would have to check to enable. Anyway, there's no impending deadline, so I'll wait patiently.

Most of the multi user work is done with the users, roles and permissions being in this version. Now, I just need to implement a way for the user to select the tsb file and the multi user is done. It should be in place by next month.
Reports documentation is already done and will be released this week. :)

Sounds great.
At this point the updated docs are a much higher priority (sounds like they're done or close to done). Guess I need to figure out the security module too, so I'll be ready for MU when it's available.

Yeah, that thorn in my ass er... I mean that work is almost done. ;)
I just need to put a few touches and it will be released.
I am also going to release editable help documentation that you can use for your customers.

Thanks for making the help info editable. I may have to hide under the bed if someone asks me how the Analysis and Charts work. I never studied it enough.
Are you still using the Screen Steps software to make your help files? I finally purchased it.
