I am trying to install a second copy of one of my TSBpro projects on my laptop. The second copy is a clone of the first but has a different project name, so it would end up installed in a different Programs folder...
BUT... when I go to install it I get the following message:
A network error has occurred while attempting to read from the file:
C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS`1\Temp\mia1\Tink MMS Local.msi
The laptop has XP Home which I am not very familiar with. I have emptied the Temp files...
I need 2 instances of this app in order to backup 2 different web sites. ;-(
They BOTH need to be on the laptop.
Any suggestions?

Would it help it give app numero two a different name? Can you do this during the installation of the second app?

Tink, does this run on your other computer but not your laptop?

Hi Alton -
It has a different name, but I did try to run a copy with the same name earlier, by accident. I dumped the temp files, turned off the computer. Waited a bit and restarted it, only to run into the same prob.

During the second installation it IS going into a different Programs folder... but I still get the same error.
Yeesh!

Thomas - I'll tray and report back. I don't have the first app on the desktop. Do you want me to install it first?

Yes please. :) Hopefully it won't work so we know it is the installation.

Just to be clear - you want me to install the FIRST app on the desktop and THEN install the SECOND version on the desktop?

Ok, T, here is my report...
Installed APP #1 on the desktop, all went well.
Tried to install APP #2 on the desktop and got the same error message that I had gotten on the laptop.

I think it is the problem with cloning the software. It more than likely cloned some data that should be unique to each program when dealing with the installation.
I am going to move this to the bug section to remind myself to look at this.

Ok... that makes sense.
So, do you think that building a second version, but using the same SoftwareObjects will work, or do you think I should start from scratch?
You are allowed to say that you don't have a clue! :D

Sorry to leave you hanging. :)
Yes, I would create a new software project and add those objects to it.
