I am working on a pretty complex app.

It has 25 or 26 software objects, some with a LARGE number of editors.

It is relational with ONE Software Object joined to all of the others in One to Many relationships.

I have managed to arrange 11 of the SOs and have them keep their organization.

Then starting with SO 12 and SO 13, they are reverting back to the default arrangement no matter how I try to save them. :(

SO 12 is pretty simple and SO 13 is quite complex....

I have saved and saved and saved my way out to close down TSBPro completely... no luck. I have even shut down my computer computer completely... and still no love.

This is driving me nuts... especially since getting the app up and running was today's MUST do task!

Any suggestions?

Arghhhhh!!!!!!!!

I run into this problem occassionally and what I am able to do on one of my systems it to create separate apps using the different SO (I use 10 SO's in each) and then, use the smaller apps to set the layouts I want, then, once all the layouts are set, I then merge the SO's into 1 app making my main app...

Now, notice I said "on one of my systems"... that's because it doesn't work so well on 2 of my other systems, so I am not sure if this will work for you, but if you have some time, you may want to give it a shot...

Hi J -

I was wondering about trying something like that...

Do you *merge* the SOs by cloning them? And do you set the relational databases after *merging* them? Or do you use the primary SO in each of the sub groups?

Thanks,
B/T

Hi B/T (I wonder if we got the whole alphabet yet and if so, do we get a surprise),

OK, seriously now, to answer your question

I usually take 3, 4 or 5 of the SOs and simply add them to different software projects (SP) (I have17 "SP"s set up just for this...)

It doesn't matter which SP I add the SO's too as nothing is permanent at this stage anyways...

I then go in and edit the layouts as I see fit. Once everything is done and looks the way I want, I then go in, create the 1 SP for the actual software package and add the SO's and relationals as I need them to be... (keep in mind that the SO's will be listed within the app in the order you "link" them in the SP, so add them in in the order you want the icons to appear in the finished app...

Does that make sense? Does it help? Are you more confused now than you were before ;)

~~ J

Helpful Tip: I would take the time to do this with maybe 5 or 6 SO's and 2 Test SP's then merge the 6 SO's into an actual SP and create the setup - install and test... If it didn't work, then this whole thing will not work for you at which point, my suggestion would be the good old sledge hammer to the CPU routine... :)

Thanks for the help, J.

I am going to try a couple of things, based on your suggestions.

I was creating the app for myself, so my ultimate Plan B will be to create a stripped down version... I need the app ASAP (we're almost thru the alphabet here)

and I guess I'll move getting a new computer closer in the timeline... once they get Windows 7 going!

Thanks!

Blondie

PS - I have to laugh about the Alphabet joke... I am in the midst of finishing designing a book of needlework Alphabets due for a trade show in 3 weeks... I am considered the *Queen* of Needlework Alphabets! LOL

OK... I am happy to report, I went back to a previous version of the SP and was able to get it working. The Logo is wrong, and it opens with the Supplementary SOs screen showing, not the HOME SOs but I can live with it!

If I have time later tonight, I'll try to fix the logo... but if necessary, I can suck it up and live with it for now.

As far as I am concerned, the most important thing is the functionality and I have that!

I just wish I knew WHY I was able to get to working!

Yippee!

Tink, are you saying the layouts are not saving when you change them?

What the heck are you building? The mother of all software? :)
