Hi again. I've been trying to create a scheduler program, and for some reason, when I try to customize the layout, it always rearranges itself. Any advice on how to get the layout to save properly?
Thanks,
Evan

Evan,
First: thing when you exit out of the customization are you clicking no when asked about saving changes. Must always click no.
Two: are you putting spaces on the left side. This seems to cause the customization to collapse at this time.
Three: have you noticed that some of the editor field are regrouping after you exit and bring the screen back up. This I am seeing a lot lately. Some times if I right click on the grouping and ungroup and reposition the editor it will stay but not always.
Four: if the top line of editors is going to the bottom or from left to the right then check your grouping of the editors or sometimes using a small space between editor will help to achieve better positioning.
I agree it has been more difficult lately because the editors seem to be regrouping themselves. Customization can be achieved though with patience and some heavy thinking about what is happening. At present time I am not putting empty spaces on the sides. I just customized a 37 software object program with 47 relationships. Be patient.

Roland,
Thank you for your advice! I'll try your suggestions about not saving and the use of empty spaces. And, of course, patience.

Something I found out is when putting spaces on the left and right side, is do not drag them to their smallest size. If you drag them to the smallest (thinnest) size and then drag them open just a little, they do not seem to collapse the layout. And if they do, open it up and resize them, again, not to their thinnest size and they will usually stay put. It worked for me on a project with about 20 objects and 8 or 9 relationships. I always use spaces on both sides because I like the look it gives.

Mike,
Thanks for the info. I will try that myself.

Mike,
Thank you! I'll keep this in mind when working with empty spaces. By the way, any idea what might be causing the installation problem I mentioned in the other thread just above this one? Haven't heard from Thomas yet. However, it is the 4th of July, so I really don't expect to hear anything until Monday.

Sorry Evan, I don't think I've seen that one posted before. Is this on Vista? If so is user access control activated? Did you try to right click the file and install as administrator? Shouldn't have to, but may be worth a try. The only time I had trouble installing a program was when I cloned a software project and tried to install both on the same computer. It didn't work :) must use the same temp settings or something. It's not a cloned project is it?

I am still working on the update which will hopefully fix some of these layout problems.

Thank you, Thomas. The secret's safe with me. I think my wife is under the impression that I'm contributing to the housework, right now. Little does she know. Anyway, please don't let on.
