Hi Thomas,
Could you please explain how to use the file editor?
Can it be used to give a sample file to the end user?
Or is it only used by the end user to store there own files (ie. pdf, doc, exe, etc.)?
Thanks for your assistance.:)
Best Regards,
Jim

Jim,
I could be wrong in my explanation but I think the file editor is just a way to access files using the software. I included a file editor in my test software I posted and used it. It is the same as using "file" button on a browser or word processor.
I did notice using the file editor in the software that the last file you looked at is still listed. This is great for quick reference.
I think the way I will use it--is to make a folder for all the files I may use in the software like "reports and charts" . Then I will be able to quickly find or send files there.
That is the way I am understanding it.

Thanks Glen for your reply.
But I am still unsure if that is the reason.
Thomas in his help pdf states:
"Saves files into the database. The end user will click on the button to the right of the Editor, a window where the end user will select the file will display. The end user can open the file in the default program by clicking on it or using the menu that appears when your right click the File Editor."
So it seems like it saves the files within the database of the software. Then when the end user clicks on it it will open.
Unfortunately I have not had any success.
If anyone else has any further knowledge please reply.
Thanks for your assistance. :)

Jim

I'm sure Thomas will chime in soon. The file I saved still has the link there for quick reference and I think this is the one in the software database.
When I click on it--it immediately comes up. If I choose the button--it brings up the standard search box.
While you could probably save more files than one, only one shows. As far as finding multiple files using the database, Thomas would have to explain that one if it is an option.

Hmmm I must not have posted my last response.
It does save the file to the database.
Only one file per control. You must zip more than one file if you want to save it.
Or include more file editors.
There needs to be a application associated with the file for it to open. This all depends on the computer the user is working on.
For example, I save a file with zip extension. If I don't have any software programs that are set to open a zip file then it won't open. If there is a software program set as a default for all zip programs, then it will open that file in that default program.
You can see it in action by watching the property editor video. :)
Hopefully this makes sense.
Thomas
