View Full Version : How would we go about creating a projetc that

tracks some sort of activity daily / weekly etc.

for example a typical "calorie counter" for dieters (thinking of sending out a free program to collect opt-ins)

So people could enter into a the "Food Counter" what they ate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner that day...

a report could then be generated of how much of their diet was composed of carbs, proteins, fat and when they ate the most calories...

I'd assume that part would be easy... (haven't tried yet)

But I'm curious about how I could create it so that each day they could track what they ate, and then create a weekly or monthly report based off this?

Or even something as simple as "junk food tracker" or "coffee tracker" so people could track how much they spend a day / week / month on junk food or going out for coffees...

Is this possible currently?

I mean I see there's a calendar program within the software and a property editor...that's what sparked the idea :)

Thanks!

Hey Dexx,
This is already possible for this software, Thomas made a video about using the grids, you should watch it to get some ideas.
Also using calculations you could make it more indepth, or as complex as you want. But I would wath the video about the grids first.

haha oh my! Is that what the Grids was about?

I thought it was going to be about like "organizing your property editors within a grid"

basically a video on laying out the software objects to look good and aligned...in a grid box!

Haha I feel bad now, okay I'll check that out now!

Okay I just watched the Grids tutorial, ank I might be missing the connecting dots on how I can use that to do what I want?

In the tutorial it shows Thomas using the filters and sorting to organize the software objects, but I need to be able to organize the actual data (or at least the end user needs to be able to) and also choose whether to view records by the day / week / month...

how would I use grids to do that for the end user?

Seems like I can only use that from the builder itself to help organize things...?

Or like I said, I'm just missing the connection :P

Thanks!!

Well, once you create your software, then your fields become the ones in the grids for your end user.
Its not just for software objects. Once your end user inputs data on a regular basis, each record becomes part of the grid. Then they can sort their data via the grid, chart it, analyze it, export to a spreadsheet, export to html, the possibilities are endless.

You need to create a simple program and input some data into it to see what it can really do.

Hi Dexx,

It depends on how you want to display the information. You can use the scheduler to display it or display it all in the grid like Steve suggested.

I think Mike created something like this and posted it on this forum. I am going to test it out. I still need to look at Glenns.

Oh it is possible to do it in the scheduler itself?

Might need a video tutorial on ways to use the scheduler, I havent even touched it yet heh!

Yep, I need to do a video. You ever feel like there isn't enough time in the day, night or morning. :)

Constantly!

The beauty is, once its done, it'll be good to go forever! :-)

Just plenty of work in the initial setup, but once the momentum is going new videos will only be needed with new features :)

You can do it Thomas!! Woo WOo!!
